Iceburg Dairy Bar

A family purchased and renovated an old dairy bar in Mechanicsburg, Ohio, with the hope of building a business for their retirement years. Referred by another KRDesigns customer, they wanted a simple, lightweight sign based on their logo, with an open design to reduce the area catching the wind.

Behind the project

A local connection, carried by word of mouth.

The introduction came through an existing customer. As the project developed, Mike learned that the family knew several other KRDesigns customers in the area—a local connection behind a sign made for the dairy bar’s next chapter.

Color revealed in the coating. Dimension built into the cone.

The sign is approximately 30 inches in diameter and made from ⅛-inch aluminum. A vinyl-peel powder coating process creates the contrasting lettering: white is applied first, a vinyl mask covers the areas to remain white, and blue is applied over it. Peeling away the mask reveals the white wording beneath. Additional ⅛-inch aluminum pieces form the ice cream cone, using their own vinyl-peel details and standing out from both sides of the sign to give it dimension.
